About
About the Puzzle Picnic blog
Guides to calm logic puzzles from the people who make Puzzle Picnic: how each puzzle works, how to get better at it, and where it came from.
Who writes it
Puzzle Picnic is made by Maestro Software Development B.V., a one-person studio in the Netherlands. Martijn builds the app, including the generators that make every puzzle and the solvers that check each one has exactly one solution and grade how hard it is. That work is where the strategy guides come from: a technique only appears in a guide if it is one a solver needs to finish real puzzles.
How the articles are written
Each article starts from a question people actually search for, and answers it in its first paragraph. Rules are written to match how the puzzles really play. Historical facts, dates and research findings are checked against the original source, which is linked in the article and listed under Sources at the end. Where something is uncertain or disputed, the article says so. Drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools and then checked against those sources and the rules of each puzzle before they are published.
No article is paid for, and none of the links to other sites are affiliate links. Articles about Puzzle Picnic itself are filed under Inside Puzzle Picnic, so it is always clear when we are writing about our own app.
On puzzles and health
Some articles discuss research on puzzles, attention and the ageing brain. They describe what studies found and what they could not show. Nothing on this blog is medical advice.
